On Friday November 6, the Ship of Fools gallery organises the Don’t Believe the Type! symposium. It will be a day with an inspiring mix of workshops, lectures, and the exhibition with the work of internationally known artists and designers. The love of typography is what brings them together, and this will be shown during the expo.
From 10:30 to 17:30 several workshops will be held by artist and self proclaimed letter nut Job Wouters / Letman, calligrapher and lettering artist Luca Barcellona, and and artist and graphic/type designer Yomar Augusto; and in the evening from 19:00 to 21:00 lectures by visual artist Martijn Sandberg, Yomar Augusto, and independent designer and illustrator Alex Trochut. After the lectures the exhibition Don't Believe the Type! opens. It proves that design can have a huge influence on how we look at things – it can make bad things look pretty good, shady things reliable, and even the best of things look crappy, like a sheep in wolves' clothing. The night is concluded with a party.
