The seventh edition of the free FontShop magazine Font explores the concept of generative art. Curator and art critic Glen Helfand focuses on the work of artists and designers who are “making the rules”, but we also highlight graphic designers and typographers who are “breaking the rules”. As is customary this edition takes a look at selected typefaces and foundries. It was once again beautifully designed by Conor Mangat.

Featured foundries this issue are Jean-François Porchez’s Paris-based Porchez Typofonderie, the two Argentinan foundries Sudtipos (founded by script master Alejandro Paul) and PampaType (Alejandro Lo Celso), Reading graduates Veronika Burian and José Scaglione’s collaboration TypeTogether, and Tomás Brousil’s Czech foundry Suitcase.

As usual Font 007 showcases the latest additions to our own FontFont library – the new FF Utility and FF Polymorph, FF Tisa, FF Pitu, FF Cube and FF Nuvo, FF Netto, FF Chambers Sans and FF Enzo – plus expansions of existing families FF Unit Rounded, FF Daxline Italic, FF Max 4, FF Milo 3, and FF Quadraat Sans Bold Italic, …

… and includes a handy list of all FontFonts which have been released or converted to OpenType, spotlighting the most mind-boggling of them all – the recently remastered FF Trixie Pro package.

And finally we are privy to the origins and inner workings of FontStruct, the free online platform for creating and sharing modular grid-based fonts, in an interview with its creator Rob Meek.
