Most MTV viewers will remember Kanye West storming the stage at the 2006 MTV Europe Music Awards, proving what a sore loser he was after losing out on Best Video. Well, it is kinda naive to think that jumping canyons in a million dollar video featuring Pamela Anderson is all it takes to win an award. Money obviously doesn’t hold a chance against a killer idea. French dance duo Justice’s winning video is in fact nothing more than an elaborate student prank filmed in slow motion, but what an exhilarating view it is, and a deserved winner.
And now Xavier de Rosnay and Gaspard Auge are back with a stunning new video for their recent hit “D.A.N.C.E.”. Again it’s a deceivingly simple affair: two guys walk around while their T-shirts get animated with wacky hand drawn figures and type.
The video is directed by Parisian art students/directing duo Jonas & François for French production company Irène 75. Ed Banger Records label designer So Me designed the graphics, which were brought to life by Jonas & François. As is sometimes the case these days with dance music videos, this one comes in both a fit-for-TV version and a naughty version.
